A great number of all types of athletes come and see us here at Back and Body NJ. In the last article, we talked about how not only strength but speed is what is needed to set apart a great athlete from an amateur one. We are going to look at some exercises to help you achieve this athletic achievement.

There are a countless amount of exercises, but we at Back and Body NJ have picked out the best three to show you. These exercises will help you to beat your opponents because you will have more of that edge and skill. You have to become strong in all areas of your sport, not just what you’re good at in order to succeed.

1 Continuous Crossover Drill

Starting in an athletic base position, do the following:

Lean to the right, and put the right knee out with the left leg straight.
Snap quickly to the side and take up the opposite stance from where you started, but keep the right leg straight and extended and your left knee out and lean it to the left.

Repeat this exercise a few times.
This works out the hips, thighs and legs.

2 Squat Jump – No Countermovement

Stand in a squat position with your legs a bit outside the shoulders:
Jump up vertically and tuck your legs up mid air.
Return to the squat position and hold it for 3 seconds.
Repeat this for about 3 reps of 10.
This works out your hips, ankles and knees.

3 Linear Vertical Hop

For this one you need a small box.
With the bid in front of you, stand on one foot and hold your arms up with them bent 90 degrees at the elbow and then jump up on the box. Make sure to land gently so your hip can absorb the shock.
Hold this for 3 seconds and then step down.
Repeat with the other leg.

The following exercises are very simple, but they allow your body to have that kick and power. These are going to help set you aside as an athlete, and give you so much power.

Of course Back and Body NJ wants to let you know that there are a ton more exercises that you can do to help build this stamina that will focus on all areas of athleticism rather than just the ones you are good at.
