Chiropractic Care vs Medication for Neck Pain in Springfield

Neck pain has become one of the most common spinal problems after back pain in Springfield. There are many causes for neck pain, perhaps the most common being due to technology, looking at our phones and computers. But often it can be quite difficult to diagnose exactly where the pain has come from, unless something obvious like a sports injury or an accident.

Fortunately, there are effective treatments out there to help with it. Medication of course is perhaps the most common, but this has its drawbacks. Exercise therapy another, but perhaps the most effective is chiropractic care.

A study which followed 272 neck pain patients looked at the three different treatment options, chiropractic, medication and home exercise with advice. Treatment lasted for a year and condition measured at regular intervals. The 272 were split into three groups and undertook one treatment plan each.

The results were impressive. The chiropractic group experienced significant relief after 8 weeks compared to the other two groups. The home exercise group experienced results after 26 weeks compared to the medication group. This meant that the chiropractic group experienced the best outcomes.

Furthermore, the chiropractic group experienced no side effects compared to the other two groups. Many of the medication group experienced drowsiness and and even stomach issues due to their treatments while many of the home exercise group suffered from aches and pains.

It is clear from this study alone that you can have the best of both worlds. Chiropractic treatment for neck pain not only works, but it actually attacks the cause rather than the symptoms (as medication generally does). Moreover, there are little to no side effects.

So if you are suffering from neck pain in Springfield, make chiropractic care the first choice of treatment.
