Are E-Cigarettes Safe?

We’ve all seen or know someone who has used an e-cigarette in a place where smoking was not permitted. Their argument tends to be that is that it is completely safe because it is only vapor. Are they better for you than the real thing? Do they help smokers onto a more healthier system? Do they encourage non smokers into smoking. Here we’ll take a look to see how good or bad e-cigarettes actually are.

Today’s study comes from an environmental research journal in February of 2017. It answers what we’ve all been wondering:  why when you see people using e-cigarettes in locations that cigarettes aren’t permitted, they think it is acceptable because the vapor is clean and there isn’t any product.

This particular study looked at five leading brands of e-cigarettes’ liquid which is found inside. Through this analysis, they found out that all five contained some interesting things. They each contained the following heavy metals: cadmium, chromium, led, magnesium, and nickel. All of these elements discussed above are considered heavy metals and are toxic if inhaled. The researchers of the study did acknowledge that they weren’t sure if the aerosol product was also allowing the user of the e-cigarette to inhale the heavy metals. Despite this, we know that e-cigarettes are unsafe no matter what.

This is a threat not only for the user of the e-cigarette, but for any second hand smoke victims who could be near a person that uses an e-cigarette. This could mean that they are inhaling heavy metals as well as the user.

This topic does need more studies to see what kind of exposures are around, but until those researchers find out that specific information, you are better safe than sorry with this, but remember, once upon a time, proper smoking was also deemed safe and even good for your health!
