Quality of Life vs Quantity of Life in Springfield

The longevity of living a healthy life is very important, since simply living longer does not equate to living better. Did you know that now, one in five people live until the age of 100. Although this may seem like great news, this doesn’t always mean a person is living a healthy life at 100.

Chronological age is only a number and doesn’t have much meaning. Biological age highly depends on our life choices and habits such as diet and exercise. People who have a lower biological age than chronological age will in turn live a longer healthy lifestyle because their quality of life is better. 

With this being said, no one wants to live a long life if they are not healthy and feeling well because being sick is miserable. Disability is actually on the rise, unfortunately. Some of the  most common disabilities include musculoskeletal disorders, mental and substance use disorders, neurological disorders, and diabetes. No country in the world has been able to tackle all of these disabilities; it would be quite a difficult thing to do along with all of the other problems the world faces. 

Because of these chronic diseases, lifespan has stopped expanding in many countries. There is not much a country can do as a whole, but there are things that you can do as an individual to increase life span and health span. 

    1. never smoke 
    2. body mass index of 18.5 to 24.9 kg/m2
    3. ≥30 min/d of moderate to vigorous physical activity 
    4. moderate alcohol intake 
    5. High diet quality score (upper 40%)
