How to Enjoy this Halloween Despite Covid

Well, this Halloween is certainly going to be different. Covid has affected our lives in many ways, and now we approach the holiday season with it in attendance, we will have to be a little more creative in how we celebrate it.

Before going any further, check out the official CDC Halloween guidelines here.

While trick or treating is one of the main highlights for any child at Halloween, if you don’t feel safe about going out, then if in doubt, don’t go out. Better to be safe than sorry. If you do, then please follow the CDC guidelines and observe all recommendations as best as possible.

So, if you aren’t looking to go trick or treating, how else to celebrate the holiday and still have fun? Here’s some quick tips.

Dressing Up

Still dress up on Halloween night. If you are able to, maybe a small gathering of close friends or family to get some kids together. If not, set up a Zoom chat and share the holiday virtually. But do dress up and have some fun.

Maybe you could have a competition for who has the best costume. Or maybe put on a short play with the characters you are dressed as.

Don’t forget the candy though!

Movie Night

After your dressing up, why not plan out a couple of scary movies to watch? If you don’t have kids with you, why not binge one of the new spooky Netflix or Hulu series that always get released this time of year? The Haunting of Bly Manor is a great example of a spooky ghost story that will capture the imagination.

Decorate Pumpkins

What Halloween exists where you don’t decorate pumpkins? This is certainly a Covid free activity, hop online, find a design and try and copy it, or come up with one of your own.

Halloween Cookies

How are your baking skills? Search for some great recipes online and bake Halloween cookies or treats.

Whatever you decide to do, wherever you decide to celebrate Halloween this year, be careful, be mindful of the recommendations, but still aim to have a great time and make it memorable. This will likely be the weirdest Halloween ever for everybody.
