Can Neck Adjustments Help Tinnitus?

Have you ever heard a high pitched sound or noise that seems like it’s coming from within your head? Most likely that’s tinnitus. Some 10% of Americans suffer from the condition in some manner and it can be very debilitating. Chronic sufferers will try everything they can to try and control it. Unfortunately there isn’t a cure available as yet. Perhaps that will change in the future, especially as one of the side effects of COVID seems to be people experiencing tinnitus for the first time.

So at present, treatments and techniques to help manage the condition is the main goal until such time a cure can be found.

One treatment that may help is chiropractic care. A 2015 study which examined 87 chronic tinnitus sufferers found that almost half had what’s known as cervicogenic tinnitus. This type of tinnitus derives from the neck and so cervical adjustments may well help these people.

In 2020 an elderly lady who suffers from headaches, neck pain and tinnitus received chiropractic care for her neck. After a series of adjustments she found that the neck pain, headaches and tinnitus all benefitted from the treatment. Moreover even after 6 months of care she was still better. So there is hope that chiropractic may be able to help some people.

If you have tinnitus and have tried many ways to manage it but haven’t tried chiropractic, it may well help. Moreover, acupuncture too may be able to provide some relief as well, which is also a treatment we can help with.
