At Back and Body here in north Jersey, our Springfield shoulder pain treatment helps many who suffer pain in their shoulders. Many cases of shoulder pain that stem from multiple different areas of the body. These include: joints, muscles, tendons, bursa, or even the neck, back, and/or referred pain from the gallbladder.

Shoulder pain can stem from no clear cause, which makes the onset highly variable. Shoulder pain can also stem from a specific injury you had from sports, trauma, or work. Repetitive trauma over time and neurological injuries are other causes.

Studies conducted find that half the population experiences shoulder pain every year, and many decide to put up with it and live in pain. Shoulder and neck disorders account for 18 percent of disability payments for MSK pain. WIth that being said, we suggest you seek our Springfield shoulder pain treatment for your problems.

These factors contribute to shoulder pain, and they can be alone or separate:

  1. Inflammatory conditions: Tendonitis, bursitis (fluid-filled sacs that are around the tissues), osteoarthritis (“wearing out”), and rheumatoid arthritis (autoimmune).
  2. Excessive Motion: Instability can occur from a tear in the joint capsule, tendons, and/or ligaments. Straining and spraining are tears of muscles and/or tendons (strains), ligaments (sprains). Trauma is a result of instability in one direction vs. congenital problems where the instability can go in different directions. This results in a subluxation or dislocation in the shoulder.
  3. Limited Motion: When the joint capsule and ligaments are tight and do not allow movement, this occurs. Limited motion most commonly occurs after immobilization (using a sling), and can cause an impingement.
  4. Muscle Weakness/Imbalance: All of the muscles must be in proper balance for the ball and socket joint of the shoulder to work correctly. Any weakness in the muscles can alter the balance and cause pain. An example of this would be having a forward head posture with shoulder protraction. This happens from using smartphones, TVs, computers, and more. Overtraining the muscles, stroke, or pinched nerves are other ways the muscles can become imbalanced and weak.

An impingement is also a cause of shoulder pain. Impingement happens when there is swelling or inflammation from the tendons/ bursa. This means the arm will have limited ability to be raised.
