5 Tips to Help Through the COVID19 Crisis

Right now, most of us are in the home environment for the most part. Save from going out and getting groceries, pharmaceuticals or other essential items, we are being told to stay home to allow the curve to flatten and to help our healthcare workers to get on top. For many people who are now unemployed or furlonged, this is an extremely difficult and stressful time. It’s hard on everyone, our freedoms have been taken by this invisible force and it takes its toll in many ways.

So what can we do to help ourselves and remain calm and focused? Here’s a few things you can try and do.

Keep Active

If you’re in the house most of the time, chances are you’re probably sitting down. Try and break out of that routine. If you can, spend some time in your garden if you have one. If not, have a walk (be responsible though, follow the latest guidelines for this) around your area if you can. Being active and especially in the sun will not only help you physically, but mentally as well.

Find Something Wholesome to Focus on

It’s too easy to just watch Netflix or tv shows all the time. Or even stress yourself even more by watching the news. Try and look at this as an opportunity to try something different. Of course, it has to be done in your home, but what have you always wanted to do if you had the time? With the work situation the way it is, how about looking to see if you can start your own internet business? There’s plenty of resources online that can help you to start something. Being more self sufficient is a fantastic way to remove outside burdens and dependencies.

Try to Remain Positive

Times are very hard right now. The good news is that it won’t last forever. Think back in your own life and think on some of the times that you felt like everything was too much. Did you not get through that? Being positive and optimistic is hard right now, but it is something in your power to control. Feed your mind with more positive things than negative and you will find your outlook may not be as bleak as you think.

Be Proactive

Doing nothing makes problems worse. Finding solutions to them will always make things better. So maybe you are unemployed. What can you actively do about it? Going back to point 2, is there anyway you can educate yourself and to put yourself in a more powerful position for the future? Do you have credit card debt? Maybe you can refinance that into a lower interest loan payment that will make life easier in both the short and long term?

Stay in Touch with Friends & Family

One thing about the timing of this pandemic is that at least we have more connection with the outside world without actually being out in it. Texting, emailing, calling and video calls are all so much easier. Talk often with friends and family, play games online together but most of all, be there for one another.

Remember, we’re all in a similar position. We can get through this as a people and move our society back to a more normal place. Maybe even to a better place. But we have to do it together.
