At Back and Body Pain Relief, we all love training and workouts. As our practice is heavily geared towards sports people recovering from injury and getting back to full fitness, we all understand and get it. Dr Perna himself is a keen athlete and has also worked with the Men’s Olympic bobsleigh team. Our team at Back and Body Pain Relief is here to help anyone in pain and injured to recover.

Of course the past year of pandemic has made it hard for many to remain active with so many gyms closed down. It wasn’t unusual to see an abundance of fitness apps downloaded for people to keep up with fitness. We ourselves use a variety of them. What we’ve done is come together and highlighted our own top 10 fitness apps for you here.

Freeletics

Freeletics has a free and paid option. The free option is pretty decent, it gives you access to a fair share of workouts and a community as well. The paid version starts at less than $2 a week and provides even more workouts and access to an AI coach which works better than you might think.

It’s a great app for simple go to exercises and workouts.

Runkeeper

Over 50 million users use Runkeeper. As the name suggests, it’s predominantly aimed at walkers and runners. It’s also totally free and is a great app to use to help build yourself up for regular walks, runs and even races.

It has GPS tracking and did we mention it’s free too?

Map My Run

Map My Run is one of the originals. As a consequence its library is huge. It contains over 70 million routes so you should never get bored running the same course over and over.

Not only is it great for running, but it has over 600 other activities which can be tracked. It’s even able to track your shoe mileage and suggest when to replace them!

Yoga Studio

Our yoga fans love this app as it has so much and is so easy to use. There are 70 ready made classes and over 280 poses with full instruction on how to do them.

The classes are customizable so you can focus on one of four categories, strength, relaxation, balance or flexibility. It’s great for meditation as well. Classes can even sync with your calendar too so you never have the excuse of forgetting.

Sworkit

This app is rated number 1 by the American College of Sports Medicine. The exercises are of very high quality and allows the user to set plans and goals based on your own fitness level and the app will give you the workouts. It’s very intuitive and its simplicity of use make it a very good app to try.

It has a 7 day trial period before going onto a subscription based.

So these are the first five, we’ll take a look at the next five in our follow up article.
